Next Generation Board Leadership Academy

This is a foundational development opportunity for emerging leaders and those who have never served but desire to serve nonprofits as board members. This opportunity is intended to build a pipeline of leadership for community engagement. After much benchmarking of community offerings, a customized training framework for our region includes 1 full-day training and a 3-month ‘in the field’ application with an assigned nonprofit. Best offered in a cohort style, training is conducted by a consultant with best-in-class expertise in board development. Ideal class size of 15-20 participants from area businesses is surfaced through internal leadership tracks of these businesses. Corporate partners serving as advisory committee members: ONB, Berry Global, Vectren, Deaconess, and Toyota. Topics covered with deliverables include: Understanding the NP landscape/sector; philanthropic sustainability; board member roles/responsibilities; how to be a high impact leader (fit and choice); and board ambassadorship.

Duration: 1 full-day training and 3 month ‘in the field’ application
