White Paper on Early Learning in Evansville & Vanderburgh County

Did you know there are 13,000 young children in Vanderburgh County under the age of 6? And 75% of them live in a household where all parents work?

When the average cost to send one child to a high-quality program is approximately $8,000, (similar to the cost of one year of in-state college tuition), it’s no surprise that only one third of young children who need care are enrolled in high-quality programs.

As a community, leaders have worked to address child care gaps for decades. Recently, we came together to look at previous efforts and identify the existing needs of our youngest children and their families. We pulled together resources to produce a new report: Building a Strong Foundation Through Investment in Early Learning.

This white paper outlines the needs of our community and also highlights next steps for the newly formed Early Care and Education Coalition of Vanderburgh County.

We invite you to check out the full report and download the executive summary.

As we continue working hard to support our youngest learners, we need your help! Please share these important resources with your network by forwarding this email. Thank you for all you do to support our youngest children and
