Candice Perry

Chief Capacity Building Officer

Candice serves as Chief Capacity Building Officer, a role she assumed in 2024 to expand her leadership in advancing the Foundation’s capacity-building efforts for nonprofits and community partners, as well as Welborn’s internal organizational culture. She joined Welborn in 2016 as the Nonprofit Excellence Program Officer, leading initiatives in Next Generation Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness to build capacity across the region’s nonprofits.

Candice began her nonprofit career in 1993 with Albion Fellows Bacon Center, a domestic and sexual violence shelter and advocacy center in Evansville, IN. Over 23 years at Albion, she spent 15 years providing direct services to survivors before becoming Executive Director in 2008. In that role, she experienced firsthand the transformative impact of capacity building, peer learning, and strong governance.

With a social service and psychology emphasis, Candice attended the University of Maryland, Asian Division, at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan, and earned her degree from the University of Southern Indiana. She holds certificates from The Fundraising School and Executive Education from Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and is a past ATHENA Leadership Award nominee.
